His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an better service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
